**ASK** Teeth Whitening Clinic in SG before my wedding day
« on: October 13, 2011, 05:48:10 pm »

Hi, Anyone know of clinics in SG that provides good and affordable teeth whitening? The lowest price I've asked is around SGD1000 ....I have naturally neat and well-aligned teeth ... it's not very yellowish but I'm just curious how does it feel like and wish to give a try.I've heard the latest technology of teeth whitening now is by laser...anyone know the costs? And how effective it is?
Is teeth whitening considered a form of PS as well?

Lucky you  ;D. I just got a brochure at Bugis a few weeks back.

& this company was promoting teeth whitening service too.
Either by laser or take home kit.

Costs unknown.

Company: Fabulous Smile Pre Ltd
Tel: 6884 5455
www.fabuloussmile.sg
fabuloustan.livejournal.com

Need to save $$$.... I wanna go for this treatment too~~ =p
But will compare a few companies before making decision though.

hi please check this might help you.
there are several types of whitening systems in the market.
the laser treatments etc that you mentioned, well to be honest, studies have shown that there are no differences in the results.
basically the "laser treatment" uses light to activate the chemicals that causes your teeth to be whiter. the other type is activated chemically, not by light. maybe the light one gives the dentist slightly more control since he can decide when to start the procedure.
but basically the result is the same.
what is more important is WHO does the treatment for you.
there are ppl who are non-dentists doing teeth whitening. yes! NON-DENTISTS. basically these "clinics" do nothing but whitening since they are not allowed to do other procedures as they are not trained as dentists.
They are usually able to charge lower than doctors, but i'd advise patients to still get a qualified dentist to get the job done because its not as simple as just placing a chemical on the teeth. there are other considerations as well. so rem to check if the operator is trained as a dentist. Ask to see the qualifications, they should have a BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)

@Ivy

i'm afraid what you quoted in the brochure "Company:
Fabulous Smile Pre Ltd
Tel: 6884 5455
www.fabuloussmile.sg
fabuloustan.livejournal.com

is one of those clinics where teeth whitening is done by non-dentists.

I'd advise against going to these "teeth whitening companies" because of several reasons:
1) Teeth whitening involves not just placing chemicals on the teeth, but also protecting the soft tissues (the gums, tongue, cheek etc) from damage from the chemicals. Obviously someone who is not trained as a dentist won't be well versed to handle that.
2) Not every case requires whitening. In certain cases, if the stains giving the discolouration is extrinsic in nature, other simpler procedures will be sufficient. In fact, whitening may just mask the problem and give rise to bigger problems in the future
3) A dentist will do a thorough examination prior to the procedure. You might require other more urgent treatment eg caries, gum disease etc. Just carrying out a whitening may give you short term results, but in the long run, when the problems become obvious (eg pain) the treatment required then will usually be more complex and expensive
4) from the prices quoted on the website, doesn't seem like its much cheaper than seeing a dentist.

Hope this answers your questions. Very Happy

I recommend you must take care when getting the teeth in whighting procedure

2 years ago my husband did the one at home, put chemicals in mouth think about 5 days and yep they turned pearl white
but became so sensetive she could not even drink a cold soda for 1 years now, must drink everything room temp.

The teeth may be discolored due to various reasons, such as, chewing betel or tobacco, certain drugs like tetracycline, or poor oral hygiene. Mango leaves is used for brushing in rural India and is very effective in removing stains, plaque and other dental ailments.

Roll a medium sized mango leaf and massage the teeth with it.The stains are removed in a month.

Lets give it a try then cheaper and I hope its effective.

How about bad breath?
I heard that bad breath actually has little to do with your oral hygiene, rather it is due to indigestion, is that true?

not entirely true.
bad breath may and usually is caused by poor oral hygiene.
you are right though, indigestion or gastric problems can cause that too.
smoking is another common cause.
other less common causes also include lung infections etc.

FYI..

laser whitening would cost anywhere between750-1150 SGD.
no its not permanent but usually the effects lasts for 4 - 5 yrs.
if u work it out, that works out to be around 200 plus per yr or about 20 dollar a month.
pretty worth it for a beautiful smile right? :)

I've done the at home treatments procedure.

Crest whitestrips worked but when I first began to whiten my teeth it made them look streaky.

Tried another at home system with the whitening trays and whitening gel. It worked quite well and have been ordering refills since. The company I ordered from was Novawhite and I think they are actually based overseas

was in Bangkok Thailand in July and enquired at a few dental clinics.
there are 2 prevailing systems - laser teeth whitening and britesmile

laser teeth whitening costs abt SGD 550, while Britesmile is around SGD 800-1000. I was told that Britesmile can achieve more shades of whiteness, and will be less likely to cause sensitvity.

price still a bit steep for me. i remember the last time i went dentist, he used a whitening gel that cost around $50 and it lasted somewhere between 4-6 mths... will stick to that for now Smile

Anyone tried teeth whitening services from Neuglow? Heard they are good. But still trying to find out if there's any other better option.

Is it really laser teeth whitening you are seeking or is it whiter teeth in one hour? What's the difference you ask? Well over the last 4 years or so we have seen a boom in the teeth whitening market. It is become a boomin industry due to many factors. Many people commonly refer to well known branded teeth whitening systems like Zoom or Britesmile as laser teeth whitening. For further details, you can go at  http://www.dentalicon.com/laser-teeth-whitening/

Teeth whitening can be very painful. Your teeth will ache like crazy.

Hello,

I'm not sure whether you girls are interested but Victoria Dentalcare @ Marina Square link carries out talks on tooth discoloration and whitening. There are no charges for this talk and the dentist would be providing consultation for the participants. The talk is carried out every Thursday at 3-4pm at 6 Raffles Boulevard #B1-11 Marina Square Link Singapore 039594. I think its good to know more about the procedure before committing to it.

Disclaimer: I am a patient of Victoria Dentalcare but I'm not paid to post this. This is done solely on my own accord; I think he is a reliable and very gentle.
