i don't know about you guys, but sometimes i cant help but cringe whenever people choose utada hikaru's first love for their wedding banquets. yes, it's a super famous love song, but it's not a happy love song for the record! it's talking about how this lady can't forget her first love...

a useful tip to avoid such faux pas would be to check what the actual lyrics really mean before finalising your choices for that melodious foreign language song that you love!

this is a pet peeve of mine! the problem is that the english lyrics in 'first love' are very romantic, but the moment it turns to japanese, the lyrics become sad. and most people don't realise it because they can't even be bothered to look up the lyrics translation! though in a sense it's quite hilarious looking at the couple being all happy and stuff and the song going on about how 'are you thinking of me too? it's still a sad song' hahaha.

I'm getting married in six months and I'm so headache about which songs to choose. My criteria are first the meaningful lyrics (of course not about a woman cannot forget her first love). It can be about a beautiful and romantic love, etc. And then the melody, not sad but gentle and romantic. it's really a hard job to choose one~
