How to know what kind of shoes match the wedding gowns that we have chosen? Strapped heels? Pumps? Crystals on the heels? Material of the heels? Satin or leather?

Hi smsmth, I do not have a pic of my gown as my bridal studio does not allow photography at their premises. But mine is a tulle gown Now wondering what shoes to get to match it and my evening gowns + outdoor shoot gown! Headache!

Well, first of all, on behalf of everyone here at Wedding & Travel, a big congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

 

You’ve asked about the type of footwear to match the wedding gowns. Well, first and foremost, our advice to you would be comfort over style. Chances are, you will have very little time to rest from the morning tea ceremony (we are assuming yours is a Chinese wedding), photos taking follow by the evening reception. There will only be short intervals where you can rest your feet and you will be standing most of the time. Therefore, having a comfortable pair of footwear beat having something that only offer aesthetic appeal. Moreover, unless you are wearing a short wedding gown, most gowns would cover pretty much of your footwear so not many guests would be able to catch a full glimpse of them. As a matter of fact, you may want to consider having the emphasis on your face (hair or accessories) as most of your guests would love to look at the lovely couple in their faces. Another factor to consider would be the use of the wedding shoes for other occasions; after your wedding. If you have chosen ivory or white pumps, would there be another opportunity that you may wear them again versus something that is strappy? Last but not least, your choice will also reflect your personalities. Are you the classical or funky bride? Knowing your taste and style will influence your decision-making better than just following a certain trend.
